The Brookes family were vampire hunters for generations. Valter's ancestor was tasked with killing the vampiric twin of the Belfrie brothers during the Belfrie Rebellion. Having failed, it left a stain on their family that Valter now aims to set right. Having heard Arthur Belfrie was alive on Duskweave Isle before fleeing, Valter now hunts him and other undead nobles through the kingdoms surrounding Draksborne, seeking aid from the Hex Hunters after hearing of a Vampire Coven matching Arthur's in the northern kingdom.

An enigmatic creature said to be a wish granter or oracle. The Sphinx Tizariel sits upon the western-most mountain of the Great Havel Range. Many men have travelled to her in search of fortune, glory or guidance; few have returned. Those that did speak little of their encounter with the creature. The Sphinx has powerful control over both humanoids and beasts, swaying their hearts and minds.

A man who bears more winters against him than he appears. Tarick was exceptionally resistant to the negative effects of Crystal Augmentation, so was subjected to more extreme and experimental crystals that further enhanced his powers and granted him a lifespan far longer than most other Hex Hunters and Men.

A young girl born into the servitude of the Hex Hunters after an illicit relationship between a Hex Hunter and Sorcerer. Lina has spent her entire life within the order and knows little else, and it shows in her masterful knowledge of the creatures of Brightstone and her mastery with blade and magic.

From the far continent of Zandorion, this Lionfolk Prince joined the Hex Hunters in hopes of learning ancient and arcane knowledge he could use to defend his clan back home. Though he is far from a novice with a blade, his mastery of magic leaves much to be desired before he is ready to return to his people.

Trolls that spend most of their lives in the caves throughout Brightstone and Greypeak. "Cave Troll" is a common term, though Hyol Droll refers specifically to the subspecies local to northern Tharador. Hyol Droll's are more aggressive and far less reasonable than their cousins found in Tharador's central lands, and because of this Hex Hunters approach these creatures with an "Attack on Sight" mentality.

Hill Giants are relics of the Oldavori Empire that have enjoyed their freedom from their oppressors in a rustic lifestyle, keeping to hillocks and clearings in the forests upon the hillsides of the Great Havel Range. They have little care for the musings of Men, but sometimes might see a lost traveller as an easy meal — often invoking the wrath of townsfolk and a contract sent to the Hex Hunters for a Giant's head.
🔍
Hill Harpies native to the mountains and foothills of the Great Havel Range. More disorganised than their southern cousins, the Hill Harpies of Brightstone usually attack indiscriminately with little regard for self-preservation, making them a menace to most travellers in Brightstone's north — particularly caravans en route to the Watchers at Oldavor's borders.
🔍
A creature that lurks on the edge of riverbanks and deep in wetlands in Tharador's north. Recently their numbers have greatly increased and some seemingly have mutated or been empowered unnaturally to grow stronger and smarter than their regular counterparts. They are rarely seen as far inland as Zwilling Zwei, resulting in concern among the Hex Hunters that an unnatural force is driving them — suspected to be the Sphinx upon the mountain nearby.

Renowned across Tharador for his epic ballads and sagas, Brekken has become a near household name among even the commonfolk from Draksborne to Baldur. His latest bodacious ballad brings him to the Kingdom of Brightstone where he travels alongside his companion Valter Brookes as he sets his sights on a new saga in a far-off land from his home.
